Accidents while out on Activities
On all activities the instructors should carry a first aid kit, packed with the appropriate supplies for the intended activity. Accompanying staff should be aware of its contents and their purpose.
First aid regulations cover all employees, both teaching and non-teaching staff.
Staff responsible for first aid on each activity should check the First Aid pack and carry out regular inventories of the contents of each First Aid kit to make sure that adequate supplies of each item are available.
An accident/incident report form must be filled in if any accident/incident occurs in the following instances (including near-misses):
- With residential clients at Raasay House;
- With clients participating on activities;
- Within Raasay House grounds; or
- Where the injured person is treated by a member of Raasay Outdoor Centre trading as Raasay House staff.
Should you require any further information please speak to David.
FIRST AID
All staff should have a working knowledge of first aid.
Small accidents sometimes occur, affecting both guests and staff of Raasay House. When these small accidents occur the actions of those around can greatly affect the eventual outcome. It is therefore necessary for all staff to possess an understanding of how to cope with the most common slight injuries and to develop an awareness of appropriate courses of action in the eventuality of an emergency.
